The National Home Improvement Awards 2012 – Judges Reveal
The judges of the inaugural National Home Improvement Awards 2012 announce Duncan Tolson and Leslie Browning as their favourite with their stunning townhouse basement conversion. They walk away winning £1,000 worth of B&Q vouchers!
The Awards, sponsored by The National Home Improvement Show magazine, The National Home Improvement Council Educational Trust, Trustmark and Real Homes Magazine were set up to showcase and acknowledge inspiring major home improvement projects.
Judged by Michael Holmes, Editor-in-Chief of Real Homes, Andrew Leech, Executive Director of The National Home Improvement Council, and Roman Russocki, Chief Executive of TrustMark, the panel announced their favourite live at The National Home Improvement Show on Friday 28 September 2012.
Duncan Tolson and Leslie Browning converted a series of dark, cramped and redundant rooms into a perfect family space which was no mean feat, but one they achieved with outstanding results. The couple have transformed the basement of their terraced house in north London into a light, airy kitchen and living space. View Project Video.
Andrew Leech explains why this project was the judge’s frontrunner: "This project provides a charming solution to increasing the living area in a family home, without detracting from its character. There has been close attention to introducing new energy efficiency and extra comfort levels in a Victorian terraced house."
